South Florida Sportfishing October 2005

1st- 7th

kingfish are hit and miss as the anual mullet migration gets under way. Some sailfish havew shown up and we keep getting shots at the spindlebeaks almost every trip. The ones we caught were in about the 5 foot range. Actually pretty small considering the length of their bill and tail but awsome just the same. We are still catching some mahi-mahi or dolphinfish but most are small "peanuts" and on the reef. This term is for the 2-5 pounders. Some huge fish are on the wrecks and it sure is fun to drop the live bait down on them and see what comes up. Bob Loughery got himself a giant Golden Amberjack. Nice work and a tough fight. Look forwqard to better and better sailfish action now that the cold fronts are going to start pushing them through our area. i love the Fall!

Kingfish and dolphin are still on the reef and the sailfishing is HOT! We have had a good week and helped Brian Helbling get a beautiful mount for his wall

Wahoo!!!! We loaded the boat with wahoo this week as they were biting great! We caught 7 on Sunday as well as a bunch of mahi and a sail! Thursday we got 10 and a bunch of kings. Saturday we caught 2 sails and 12 kings!
Most of the sailfish have been exciting bites on live bait and the wahoo were caught while trolling the first part of the trips.
We did get several other wahoo on live bonitos on the reef this week and spent a day filling the box with deep water tilefish, a rare delicassy.

Weather weather weather. Hurricane Wilma brought the strongest winds our area has seen in over 50 years. We got lucky and have NO DAMAGE to the boat and business. Unfortunatly it did affect our area with 100% power outage with an unforseen end. We are ready to go and the boat generator will supply you with AC, TV, and all your power needs. Come get some fresh fish for the grill and throw out all those rotting steaks from your warm fridge!
