| 1st-7th Sails Sails Sails!!!
Well here it is January again. Makes mw fell like a little kid with my kites (I get to fly two) and my fishing rods. Sailfish are here! The week started out a little slow but by the end we were getting huge catches of sails even on our half day trips. Of our eleven trips this week we caught the biggest fish for James Clark on thursday and Jim Palmiter on Sunday. Check out the pics! 8th- 14th Crazy kingfish bite and many more sailfi
The kings have really turned on! Although it is about a five mile run from our inlet (Thats right, five miles is far around this area!), the kingfish are snapping like Iv'e never seen. We caught 20 in as many minutes with a group of serious anglers out of the Boca Resort on tuesday. All the way through the week they stayed like that with multiple sailfish on many of the trips on live bait. If you want a big sailfish the way to do it is live bait! Goggle eyes are the bait of choice this week. Kingfish are KING! 15th-22nd
I said kingfish are king because it takes about a half hour to get our limit of them on the boat. Its a blitzcreg of fun, absolutly amazing! This frees us up to spend the rest of the trip with a box full of fish looking for sailfish, mahi mahi, wahoo, tuna, or whatever else you desire. Sailfish are still very strong too, Richard Torres caught a big one while staying at the Boca Resort and traveling down to our dock. Way to go Richard! Sunday we caught a big dusky shark living on the bottom of the ocean 350 feet down. Pretty cool week. Awsome fishing is the Norm! 23rd-31st
The kings are parked just north of us and not going anywhere. You could troll the five miles of water to get to them and not catch one and then catch your limit in half an hour. Its crazy with some fish big too! 8-25 lbs are the aerage size. Many winter mahi mahi (dolphin) have been mixed in. Althogh I have neglected to mention them in the report we have been gettin 2-4 fish per trip of that species with many of the "gaffers". Thats a term for fish needing to be gaffed with a big hook and drug over the side to get them in the cooler! One this week was 4 feet long! Speeking of big fish this week we caught the biggest king mackerel I have seen ANYONE catch in six years. It was 62 pounds and 61" long. Sailfish are still snappin as well so bring your trophy mentality-lots of em around! Select another page || Go to Home Page |
