Yeah thats right- If you want to catch something big, I mean really Big- This is it!!!!
Giant Golden Hammerheads have arrived. These will be available for some time to come and just when they slow down the Bull shark population will be hot on the reef after the giant schools of king mackerel that show in spring and summer. This is far and away my favorite time of year to fish here.
The largest dolphin of the year are off our coast now. Maybe not as many of them as summer but the real bruisers.
On a rare catch note- The 3rd and 4th we caught Bluefish. Not little bluefish but giant chopper blues like you get in NY and NJ and much of the North. On the 4th we caught about 20 of these bruisers. These happen to be excellent shark bait when placed on the bottom of the ocean outside the reef. For 5 trips in a row after that we got crazy shark bites catching several big Golden Hammerheads. Its truly an unreal awsome time of year here. Some big wahoo are around including 2 nice ones for Jason Shepherd last Tuesday. Scott Farrell got a big giant hammerhead only to be outdone by the group led by George Carlson- way to go both groups!
